Well, some children depending on their age don't need professional care... I mean when do they need someone trained to educate and help them to develop to the best they can be. Hey lets start with the under 2's then move up the year levels later! What school children really need is a babysitter until they are ready to work in factories! Only a selected few will qualify for uni!

Hi Viv - I can only presume you are using the lowest form of wit !!!
Seriously though - on my experiences with under 2's - the need is even greater to have qualifed teachers . Yes - there is a care aspect to interacting with very young children - but adults need to also understand human development which is quite different to other ages in ECE . Eg visual - sensory experiences -and all research indicate the same argument . Sadly all these policy means it that as student / children entry school the gap between learning acheivement and not acheiving will grow wider - perhaps a point to raise when the ECE report is presented at Annual meeting
