NZEI network for Primary teachers
At NZEI Annual Meeting 2011, Education Minister Anne Tolley stated "Performance Pay for teachers" was not on National's agenda.
I am very concerned that we now sit back and think that battle is over while National, instead, move towards a Performance Pay for SCHOOLS based on the much flawed National Standards..... ie Schools receiving reward (or not!) for the success of the results they enter against the National Standards.
Surely, if we (NZEI members) are anti-Performance Pay for teachers then we should be equally anti-Performance Pay for schools...? But I have not heard anyone discussing this.....
Am I barking up the wrong tree or should this be a concern for us????? I'd love to know your thoughts...

I think you may be on to something here. My other thought at the time, since ACT had just announced that PP for teachers was one of their policies that we could foresee a coalition in which PP was the "price" the Nats had to pay to get ACT on board. Tui billboard, anyone?
