This year NZEI is putting a big focus on the New Zealand celebration of World Teachers Day on Friday October 30 because it’s important to celebrate our teachers and promote the work we do in a positive way.
World Teachers Day celebrations provide an opportunity to raise our profile and leadership in the community and give us credibility and public support for the issues we raise now and in the years ahead.
NZEI members in schools and early childhood centres around the country will celebrate the value of teaching and learning by joining in a synchronised “Hands Up” at 12.30pm on World Teachers Day, Friday 30 October. Are you going to join in this event - what do you have planned? There are some ideas on the NZEI website. A high quality pdf of the Hands Up for teaching poster is attached for you to download, print and use in school and community.
Hi Chris
My kid's creche - Adelaide Community Creche here in Wellington - is planning a synchronised HANDS UP possibly with some silly handshakes on the side! Should be great fun. Working on my bigger kids' school now! Have a good weekend, Steph
Hi Chris
Support Staff at Papatoetoe South Primary in Manukau are celebrating World Teachers Day by putting on a special morning tea to acknowledge the valuable work our teachers are doing in terms of teaching and learning for our students. At 12.30 all of our school staff will be joined by our parents, at the end of our "Book Character Parade" to put our HANDS UP together to celebrate the value of teaching and learning and the importance of education.
