NZEI network for Primary teachers

I assisted in the facilitation of our Whangarei meeting.  There was a lot to get through.  However most Primary Network members present had a basic understanding of the current political climate which helped us get into the proposed pay model.  The activities were well structured and clearly articulated.  They generated good discussion.  However in the timeframe we struggled to get to Leadership Development.  I would like to hold another meeting to cover that, before the cluster meetings in March. May be the way to achieve that is to run that workshop at the branch meeting at the beginning of next month.  Members present did feel that the proposed pay model information needed to be disseminated out to the wider membership quickly but that this was problematic as low attendance at meetings will make this a challenge.  I would love to hear from other PTLT members about how their meetings have gone.

Hi Jo , I attended one of the cluster - focus group meetings , thankfully it was in South Auckland , my poor old car is starting to moan !  I think most members are starting to see the wider political picture but reality around the proposed model in terms of understanding - perhaps doesnt quite link . I do have concerns it parts of Auckland , leadership growth does need to happen and quickly ! How this happens will be a challenge . I am still involved at cluster level and there is a meeting on that - early march , we are combining branches which may of assistance

Thanks for sharing.  You are so right that leadership development is vital so that we as NZEI can ensure our clusters are activated & ready to fight performance pay.  We need to ensure members are fully aware of the proposed pay model.  More work is needed though and the steering group meet this Thursday to iron out some of the issues.
