Teaching Matters

NZEI network for Primary teachers

Take 20 minutes to watch this funny and thought-provoking talk from British creativity expert Sir Ken Robinson. He argues that schools need to create the conditions for personalised learning where childrens natural talents can flourish. Robinson opposes models of education that are based on standardisation and notions of learning being linear. What Robinson says really struck a chord with me, as I imagine it will with most teachers, and as I was watching it I was thinking there is no place for National Standards in the model he proposes.
