Hi to all you active members and leaders.

It is so good to have so many of you actively involved in the work of your union. There has been a tremendous response from the teachers' meetings. The replies were quite clear that you believed that the ministry's offer was not good enough and in no way recognised the work of teachers in ensuring the high quality public education system that we have. Members were very concerned at the threat to career structures posed by the suggstion that all units should be able to be fixed term and divisible. We have had 2 more days of negotiations with the ministry. Unfortunately they have so far not listened to your concerns. We will be back again next week but have made it clear to them what your expectations are and emphasised that we expect a better offer. Keep up the good work in your schools.
